About Andy
Author, former CEO, podcaster, CFA Charterholder, musician, philanthropist, teacher, mentor, husband, father. These words describe who Andy Temte was and is today — but they don't tell you how he got here, which is the part that actually matters.
Andy's career spans higher education and professional education — from a founding member of The Remainders to a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Iowa, from university teaching to leading Kaplan Professional as CEO. Along the way, he's learned that the most important lessons aren't the ones you teach — they're the ones you learn the hard way, usually about yourself.
He lives in Wisconsin with his wife Linda, his co-observer, reality check, and steady ground, and channels everything he's learned into books, two podcasts, and an ongoing conversation about what it means to lead with grace, dignity, and compassion.

BACKGROUND

Andy served as President and Global Head of Corporate Learning, Dean of the Kaplan University School of Professional and Continuing Education, Interim President of Mount Washington College, and President of the Kaplan University College of Business and Technology. He is also a board member and senior advisor at the Financial Modeling Institute.
This blend of higher education and professional education experience gives Andy a unique perspective on the issues surrounding the future of employment, workplace relevance, and the reskilling revolution, the reality that up to a billion people will need new skills over the coming decade.
Andy earned his doctorate in finance from the University of Iowa with a concentration in international finance and investment theory. He holds the CFA designation and has more than fourteen years of university teaching experience in corporate finance, investments, and international finance.
The issues Andy keeps returning to: organizational health, continuous improvement, the reskilling revolution, emotional intelligence, experiential learning, discourse grounded in critical thinking, and, always, truth, mental agility, and mutual respect.
